This happened a lot to me and I'm personally am just tired of it. DO NOT, under any circumstances, compare Niko (or any other OCs of mine) to an already existing IP or other people's OC (eg. ▍ ❝   STORY IV.
Good things don't last long, and if Niko hadn't learned that the first time, he was about to learn it the hard way. The inventor he regarded as a father figure offered to take him to Sumeru in the morning, as his researching journey in Fontaine had come to an end. To say Niko felt overjoyed was an understatement. He was ready to start anew in another region, embracing a fresh identity and furthering his inventions. He was so happy that he dared not think of anything beyond that.The events that followed were a blur. He had gone out early to gather fruits, only to be attacked by a horde of treasure hoarders. In the chaos, his leg was severed, leaving him numb and helpless. The first thing he thought of was to run back to his and Aarush's shared tent and painfully clawed his way back. Aarush like always did his best to patch up his injured leg but unfortunately the treasure horders followed him leading to their attack on both him and Aarush. He heard Aarush's yelling, urging him to run. Desperately, he gather what he could from the tent before fleeing. His one chance at a new life was destroyed, and he returned to his street rat existence, this time burdened with grief and guilt for putting the only person he had ever loved in danger.

▍ ❝  STORY V.
After the whole event, Niko withdrew even further, becoming increasingly aggressive towards those who showed him kindness. Instinctively, he feared getting close to anyone, dreading the pain of putting someone in danger. To cope, he put himself to work and built a mechanical leg for himself before immersed himself in creating even more inventions, trying to stave off grief and keep his emotions at bay.Among Aarush's belongings, Niko found a peculiar backpack, a book, and a pocket watch—items he kept close. This book, in particular, caught his attention: a story about a thief who stole from the rich to give to the poor. Niko remembered Aarush often reading these books, though he never had the chance to ask him about them. Out of curiosity, Niko spent an entire night reading the book, feeling it was a way to stay connected to his assumed deceased father figure.As he read, Niko saw reflections of Aarush in the character Robin Hood—how he sought to help the struggling, how he risked himself for others, and how Aarush had proven his own selflessness by putting his life in danger for Niko. Closing the book, Niko felt a surge of determination. He didn't want Aarush's death to be in vain and resolved to follow his ideals. He knew his methods might not align perfectly with Aarush's vision, but Niko couldn't afford to be emotionally vulnerable anymore. He aspired to become a figure people could rely on, just as Aarush had been for him, helping those in need from the shadows. Niko would carry on Aarush's legacy, but in his own way.Unbeknown to him however, Aarush survived the attack and he won't know this after years later of becoming the person whom he knows Aarush would not approve of.

▍ ❝   FIRST EVER STEAL.
Perhaps it was a mistake for Niko’s first mission to be at the Opera Eclipse. The grand theater was bustling with a large audience, and to his dismay, both Lady Furina and Monsieur Neuvillette were in attendance. “Maybe next time...” he mulled, but quickly shook off the thought, knowing that hesitation would only lead to inaction. Besides, the presence of such esteemed figures meant there would be more affluent targets.Summoning his courage, Niko decided to pilfer a few purses and heavy wallets, timing his actions with the dimming lights and the audience’s distraction by Furina’s constant chatter. Everything was going smoothly until he noticed Furina’s plate of sliced cake. Though he initially decided against it, hunger gnawed at him, and he reasoned to himself that no one would notice a single missing slice. Oh, how wrong he was...Furina’s scream echoed through the entire theater, drawing everyone's attention to the theft. Panic ensued as more people realized their belongings were missing. In his haste, Niko triggered an explosion from the Pneuma and Ousia energy he had been collecting for his inventions, causing a mass blackout to aid his escape.The incident became the talk of the city, making headlines in The Steambird and fueling widespread gossip. It was a moment Niko would look back on fondly, even boasting about it—until Monsieur Neuvillette reprimanded him for the chaos he had caused that day.

▍ ❝   THE END OF THE ARAIGNÉE NOIRE.
If you were to tell Niko he'd be caught because of a Melusine, he'd likely laugh at you before disappearing but it was how Fontaine's most notorious thief were captured.In an attempt to catch the infamous Araignée Noire, the gardes hired the most well known and talented detective they could find to track him down and put an end to Niko's seemingly endless heist, however, unbeknown to them, the detective they had hired valued himself above all and would do anything to catch this thief to shine more light on himself without regards to others. Because of this oversight, it had lead Fontaine to experienced one of the most well known incident to date.Niko has known this detective that was always on his tail for a while now and harbors a rather deep resentment for him but even he himself did not aware how deep this detective's thirst for fame was as he was determinded to catch Niko dead or alive. Just like all of his scheme, Niko would send a calling card to inform people of where and when he will appear and as promised, he approached the now ruined and abandoned warehouse was instantly, yet expected for Niko, trapped with some of the most well known people such as Neuvillette, Wriothesley, Sigewinne and the entire Gardes team whome gathered to make sure he was taken in custody. But before Niko could do his usual escape plan, he was in for a surprise as the whole place exploded a few feet from where they were all standing, a hidden bomb was placed there to make sure it went off when Niko was in the facility but the detective himself did not expect the amount of people would be gathered tonight and, afraid of the consequences, had already made his escape early into the night, causing a mass panic among the crowd as they scrambled to escape.While the majority of people was able to make out, some did not and Sigewinne herself was unfortunately crushed by the weight of one of the falling debris, unable to get out. Niko, knowing this might risk him being arrested, disregarded his own safety and immediately swoop in to save the remaining people, even willing sacrificing his life to make sure the troubled Melusine was in no harm or danger, this action resulted in some of his Meks being damaged but Niko couldn't careless as he shielded the both of them from the remainings of the warehouse.Actions were taken immediately after, despite being arrested and had to present in court and later sent to the Fortress of Meropide, Niko never regretted his action that day, the few Gardes he saved and even Sigewinne herself even begged for Neuvillette to take leisure on him and to this day. Even though this has taken years before the present, Niko look back at his downfall rather gracefully, to him, it was the end of Araignée Noire but it was also the start of Niko, Fontaine's most reowned inventor and visionary of the future.

▍ ❝  VISION.
The assumed death of Aarush marked the first time Niko ever felt true grief. Days passed where he neither ate nor drank properly, consumed by the belief that Aarush's demise was his fault. Hours turned into days of mourning, wishing it were all just a nightmare from which he would wake to find his beloved inventor telling him that his breakfast was getting cold and engaging in long discussions on how to improve their inventions. But reality offered no such comfort; only memories played back in his mind.With a new resolve to follow in Aarush's footsteps and a newfound purpose in his life, an Anemo Vision appeared before him. At first, Niko saw it as a cruel jest from the gods, wondering why they offered aid now, after he had lost almost everything. He considered discarding it, but the Vision's glow in the dark of night atop one of Aarush's books made him pause. He wondered if it was Aarush himself watching over him, understanding that Niko sought to honor his memory.Suddenly inspired, Niko decided to test an idea. He connected the Vision to the energy cable on his mechanical leg. Just as he suspected, the leg functioned without depleting his collected energy. A smile spread across his face at the discovery, and his spirit grew even more determined. With this gift, he felt empowered to pursue his own life, free of worries, as in his eyes, Aarush was here with him in the form of the newly received vision.

▍ ❝   FONTAINEMEKAL "My pride and joy in simple term. Mekal is my partner, my first ever creation that I have made with Aarush and someone that has went through everything with me. Before it became public knowledge, nobody knew Mekal was posing as my body double, his flexibility to change forms made it easy for him to do a quick escape if he ever get caught while directing the Gardes' attention away from me. Ever since our time at the Fortress begins however, Mekal has taken an interest in being a butler, there's nothing wrong with it per se but he won't stop calling me "Young Master" no matter how many time I told him it's not necessary, maybe I should stop getting him those self-help butler books..."SIGEWINNE "To think a Melusine could've put an end to my glory day is nothing sort of impressive. Don't get me wrong, even during my time as a thief, Melusines are the one that give me the most problems yet I can't imagine them as my enemies at all. Sigewinne has stood by my side ever since my life at the Fortress begin and I'm nothing sort of grateful to her... Hmph, me ? Being soft ? Don't delude yourself... Don't give her much troubles, you hear ? I won't hesitate to beat you up if I ever hear her complain."WRIOTHESLEY "Pfft, Wriothesley ? Intimidating ? Are you hearing yourself right now ? He's like the least intimidating people in the Fortress here. Of course, I have an utmost respect for him, if it wasn't for him, I wouldn't even have my Vision with me right now. Now that I think about it, I do hang out at his office a lot, talking to him IS kind of fun, he does seems interested in what I have to say about my inventions and his gauntlet is pretty cool, he also make really really good tea hmmmm....... W-wait, don't tell him I said all that !"NEUVILLETTE "Monsieur Neuvillette is... How do I put this lightly... Well his presence certaintly isn't light. He's a judge first and foremost, the title of ludex isn't put upon him without a reason after all. I remember standing in front of him on my trial, it was the first time in ages that I've ever felt nervous in the presence of someone. Even with the deafening plead of Sigewinne and a few Gardes, the law is the law and I can't fault him for finding me guilty... Although you should really see his face when the verdict was casted, I don't think he had ever seen someone so proud and happy to receive a guilty verdict."FURINA "Ah yes, Lady Furina.... Sometimes I think back to my first ever heist and thought about how it could have been a great success had I never touched her cake, you can't fault a thief for being hungry after not having any meal that day, can you ? Hm ? Do I hold a grudge against her for that ? Tch, Who do you think I am exactly ? It's natural for her to have reacted, I would have been more offended if she hadn't reacted at all, she knows how to keep what she loves closed to her at least... Say, do you think you can send her a greeting for me ? Tell her 'The spider is coming for you' That'd scare her off * snicker *"CLORINDE "Champion Duelist, huh ? All I've ever heard from people about her is how they thought I was her next successor cause of how similar I dressed to her. Tch, but, they aren't exactly wrong in a way, I am NOT her successor but I did learn how to aim and shoot from her. She had an... interesting way of teaching but it works out so I'm not complaining. If I'm being honest, I was expected to get rejected cause of how much problem I caused around Fontaine... Actually, I still don't know how I didn't get rejected. As for how she trained me... Let's just say being in the middle of a forest was not what I expected."NAVIA "The Spina Di Rosula is the only organization I ever found myself respecting. It's an organization I'd join personally but I'd rather act on my own, I don't exactly work well with a lot of people. Navia herself I don't have a strong opinion on but I do respect the work she's doing to keep everyone safe. Hey, do you think she'd ever let me take a look inside her gun umbrella ? I won't make too much mess taking it apart... Hopefully."ARLECCHINO "... How many years has it been has I ever seen or heard of Peruere ? I doubt she'd ever wanted to see me again after I left her and Clervie back at The House of The Hearth but at the same time... I'm too scared to go back, I don't think there would even BE a time for me to go back."CLERVIE "One of my fondest memories of her was when we'd hide outside and go Meka watching, strange hobby I know but no other kids would put really put themselves in harms way to just watch a few 'pieces of scraps', as they say it, walking around. She was the first one to show interest in my weird obsession with Mekas, I wonder how if she's still faring well.... What is it ? You seems like you have something you wanted to tell me. Go on, speak up."FREMINET "I don't know much about him if I'm honest, I had tried to convince him to escape with us back then but he won't budge no matter what. I don't know if it's because of childhood innocence or simply naivety that makes him think his mom will come back for him after placing him in the hand of the devil, but I can't blame him for having hope. He's a good child, I just wished I had gotten to know him more back then."

▍ ❝   SUMERU (After his story quest Act II)WANDERER "How the hell do you even tolerate this guy ? He's rude, abrasive and has no sense of manner ! Do you know how much trouble I got into because of this guy ? Mekal made a mistake, yes and I tried to apologise but he just kept throwing insults at me and even tried to destroy Mekal ! Who does he think he is ?! If it weren't for Wriothesley and Miss Nahida there I'd have put him in his place ! And you know what's worst ? I'll have to see him again in the Akademiya when my enrollment is approved ! What kind of cruel fate is this ?!"NAHIDA "To meet the Dendro Archon on your first day in Sumeru is nothing to laugh at. I remember my face paled when I realized that Hat Guy has relation to her, I was so ready to fight an Archon and make a run for it but she's surprisingly really nice, way too nice in my opinion for someone like HIM. She has been helping me a lot with my stay in Sumeru and apparently Aarush is acquantances with her ? I didn't foresee that at all huh..."AARUSH "Excuse me for my rather... impulsive emotional reaction back then, I'm sure that was very uncomfortable for you to witness. Seeing someone you have thought for so long to be dead does take a toll on you I suppose. I can't exactly say our relationship are the same as it was before, both of us has changed and none are what the other expected. There is this invisible line between the both of us that I think would need time to amend but there's nothing that time can't fix. I am grateful he offered me his place to stay during my stay at Sumeru and throughout all my studies, frankly I am rather... looking forward to having his aide in my studies."COLLEI "As embarrassing as it sounded, I'm not exactly that good at navigating the forest nor the desert, you'd have expected it from someone who spent most of his childhood loitering in the street but it's really not the same. Getting rescued by Collei when one of my Mekas malfunctioned was certainly... an event, it was impressive really, I don't think she had that much trouble carrying me even with all the Mekas on me, or at least I hope it didn't give her much trouble if her face is anything to go by. I heard somewhere that she's going to the Akademiya in the future ? That'd be great actually, at least there could be another familiar face instead of having to deal with Hat Guy through my study years."CYNO "The TCG, what a foul foul game, I had never won a single match and this Cyno guy certainly isn't helping, god his jokes are so fucking bad. I'll beat him one day, I promise you that, even if I have to stay 3 nights straight to form my strategy, I'll show him not to mess with me !"
